The Anticipation
She stands perfectly still beside the stone fountain, the silk of her emerald green dress catching the soft afternoon light. Her fingers reach up to twist a stray lock of hair around her finger while her gaze remains fixed on the path ahead. A faint, expectant smile touches her lips as she waits for the challenge to begin.
Poised for the Splash
A bucket is held directly above her, its wet rim dripping onto the stone floor. She tilts her head back to look up at the vessel, her lips curling into a nervous, playful smile. Turning toward her friend, she nods to signal she is prepared for the icy drenching on the count of three.
The Sudden Drenching
The friend tips the bucket abruptly before the count even reaches three. A sudden, heavy cascade of water slams into her, plastering the emerald fabric against her skin and soaking her hair. Her playful smile vanishes as the icy weight pulls at the hem of her gown.
Aftermath
Water streams from her sodden emerald dress, pooling around her boots as she shivers in the cool park air. She brushes a wet strand of hair from her eyes and lets out a bright, sharp laugh. Her chest heaves with quick breaths while a genuine, joyful grin spreads across her face.
Slicking Back
She brushes the dripping locks from her forehead with a bright, genuine smile. The cold water continues to bead on her skin, but she fully embraces the sudden chill. It was exactly as she had imagined it would be.
